Ashton Hawthorne
Ashton Hawthorne is the founder and Director of Homeconcepts, the London design, build and renovation company he set up in 2003. Known to clients and colleagues as Ash, he has spent more than two decades growing Homeconcepts from a small, hand-picked team into a business that has completed over 690 renovations across Central London, Surrey and the Home Counties.
From Canada to London
Originally from Canada, Ashton has lived in the UK permanently since 1999. His first projects here were property developments, converting houses into separate flats. To carry out that work, he put together his own team of skilled tradespeople and ran the projects himself.
How Homeconcepts began
The quality of that team's work did not go unnoticed. Before long, people were asking whether they could use the same team on their own homes. The requests kept coming, and in 2003 Ashton founded Homeconcepts to take them on. As they say, the rest is history.
Building Homeconcepts
Ashton has continued with development projects over the years, but his focus has been on building and evolving Homeconcepts into the company it is today. Keeping the key trades in-house has been central to that. Homeconcepts has its own project and site managers, mechanical, electrical and fit-out specialists, and carpenters, joiners, plumbers, tilers and decorators. The company now runs four site teams, each with a dedicated site manager overseen by a project manager, from offices in Kensington and Virginia Water. Its work ranges from Georgian townhouses and family homes to apartments in larger residential buildings, including higher-risk buildings where Homeconcepts has acted as Principal Contractor under the Building Safety Regulator's regime.
A Reputation Built on Referrals
More than 80 per cent of Homeconcepts' work comes from referrals and returning clients, and the company has received Best of Houzz recognition for 12 consecutive years. Ashton is still closely involved day to day, from first site visits and costings to working alongside clients, architects and interior designers throughout each project.
Away From Work
Away from work, Ashton is a father of three, and the household is completed by a much-loved Labrador.
